Onion

Onions are one of the most important vegetable crops grown in Pakistan. The plant typically grows up to 2 feet tall and produces a rounded underground bulb made of tightly layered modified leaves. These bulbs are widely used in cooking due to their strong flavor and aroma.

In Pakistan, onions are mainly cultivated in Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan. The crop takes about 3 to 4 months to mature, depending on the variety and climate conditions. Thanks to favorable growing seasons, Pakistan is able to produce onions throughout the year.

Pakistani onions are known for their strong taste, firm texture, and good shelf life, making them suitable for both local use and export. Commonly available in red, white, and golden varieties, they are in high demand in regional and international markets.
